MISSION

Kindred Spirits Farm is a 501(c)3 non-profit family-oriented organization that provides individuals and families, who may be at risk socially, emotionally disabled, abused, or neglected with support and education to make positive life lasting changes through activities with horses.

ABOUT

Working with horses and “learning by doing” activities aid in human growth and development. These experiences are structured to require the participant to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for the results. We allow the participant to experiment, problem solve, be creative, do things outside their comfort zone and find their own solutions. The focus is on personal growth, education, recognizing behaviors and relationship skills, with the activities done on the ground and in the saddle.

Research studies show the positive effects horses can have on people.

A horse’s size offers a perfect opportunity for overcoming fear, developing confidence and provides tools for dealing with some of life’s other intimidating and challenging situations. Horses are social animals, with distinct personalities, attitudes, and moods. They are extremely sensitive to their surroundings. They listen to what we DO and sense what we feel, NOT what we say. Horses are unbiased and honest. They will give immediate feedback regardless of color, gender, or social status.

Just by observing a horse’s behavior so much can be learned. In the process of describing the horse and the interactions between horses, participants can learn about themselves, interactions with others, and their own family dynamics.
